Dr. Merlino was invited to PNG by one the Pitt students that
had accompanied her to Honduras 10 years before. Dr. Li, now
a full-time missionary dentist, started a dental clinic in a remote
hospital in the mountains of Papua New Guinea. She had hired
locals to assist her and asked Dr. Merlino to help her teach
more specialized skills.
